A Prism 3d   is the fastest  -  bar none      your eyes can't follow it   and
it makes a unique swishing sound    it really darts, faster than a speeding ??

        It leaves people in awe

The warning people give me is it will also give you eye strain  -  this
by an undisputed master class

P.S. my orig ques   was eye strain relief from fast kites

I humbly disagree with you on the 3D.  I have one and I've also built
several Trick Tac kites from the plans linked on Peter Peters' kite
site.  The Trick Tac makes the 3D seem like it's asleep!  Since it's
only about 3 feet wingspan, it will make your eyes really hurt unless
you've got short lines.  If you want some real hyperactivity, build one
for yourself.  My reflexes have been improved but I still do prefer the
slightly better trickability of the 3D.  For a still hyperactive but
easier to fly kite, try building a Trick Tac at 115% or 125% scaled up
from the original plans(don't forget to scale up the bridle and diameter
of the rods as well!).  150% gets a pretty good sized kite with wingspan
roughly equal to a 3D but has more surface area-flies about the same
speed as a 3D.  Of course,  why build a kite that flies about the same
speed as one you've got?  When I need some real distraction in light
winds, my 115% Trick Tac comes out quite often.

not faster than a Speedwing with 14inch wingspan in 30 knots.....on 40 meter
lines

eye strain, from fast moving kites?
no, I don't buy it
I have a Trick Tac which moves fast
I've flown that little Speedwing quite a bit,
among others that move real fast

if you work on a PC most of the day, I'd say geting out and watching real
offscreen 3D objects moving quickly is just what your eyes need by way of
excercise, 'beneficial' is the word here

wear shades for the UV and reduce your squinting strain
be careful of peaked caps, I get neckache when I fly with one on
YMMV

Try Prisms own Micron for real speed, in a 20 mph winds you have to quess as to
whether it is pointing up, or down. You don't have much time if you quess wrong :

Absolutely - the smaller they are the faster they *seem* to go <g>

Up to a given point. At some point the lines become to short for the kite to
accellerate to top speed for that wind, as it crosses the window. So each
kite will have an optimum length for max speed given the wind speed.

It can be fun to play with the edge of speed, and control. Provided you
don't value the kite, or it's cheap to fix.
