I am thinking of buying a new 1997 Burton Supermodel56 on sale from last
season. Can anyone with experience with this type of board give me their
pro's and/or con's on it? Thanks.

As for performance, the Supers hold an edge really well, and they're light
and fairly stiff. So they excel at freeriding, carve well, and do a good
job in the pipe or the park. They are, however, freeriding boards, not
freestyle boards. If what you're really after is a board that's going to
be excellent in the pipe or the park, check out the new Burton Specials.
But if you're looking for a kickass freeriding board, the Supermodel is
definitely the way to go.

Loved this board. I used one most of last year on demo from Sunny Breeze.
I am 5'11" 170#, theoretically too tall for that board {my friends called
it "that chick board"] but I didn't care [other board is an Alp 6.3].
Supermodel is fast, quick, stable and fun.
BTW how much are you paying for the supermodel?
Thanks for your input Bird,
I am paying $300 for it. I guess it retails at $430. Is that a good deal?
Hears another question for ya. I am thinking of picking up a set of 97/98
K2 XLT or SST step-ins for it. Have you had any experience on these or
other step-ins?
Thanks again,
Mike

I used a set of SST's all through the summer (with the Shimano Skylord
boot) and bought a set a couple of weeks ago (as soon as they were
available). I'm now using the K2 Guide boot as I'm more into freeriding
than parks/pipes/tricks. So far, the Clickers have been great; not one
problem with them. Too, I think you'll find the new ones won't pack with
snow like those of a couple of years ago. The new models are much thinnner
than older ones and the boots soles have everything hid but the heel bar
and toe cleat. Also, the Clicker's performance is outstanding.
The only concern is how well the Clicker 4x4 disk mates with the Burton 3D.
They're supposed to work but I think you'll find that they won't have the
same range of adjustment as a normal 3D binding will. I ride a K2 Eldorado
thus I don't have any Clicker/Burton experience.
