Sport Today

I will be out at A-Basin around august 20th and was wondering if I might
be
able to ski.  If anybody knows the conditions or any info about the
closing date
(if they have not closed yet) please let me know.

Matt, you should be able to ski in late August. Last I heard, they were
planning to remain open until labor day.  The only lift you can still
ski off of is the Lenawee lift, after taking the Expo lift to get to it.

A-Basin is indeed still open, with limited terrain.  You have to
walk a short distance to exit the mountain, and download on a
lift, but ANY skiing in August is fine by me!

Yesterday in the local paper, A-Basin was reporting a 15" base, one
run and two chairs open, plus limited skiing available in the East
Wall area.

Todays Denver Post has a story about A-basin. (8-8-95).  It states
they will be closing this week, no specific date given.  It also
says the 1 run that is open is 50 feet wide on top and 12 feet
wide at the bottom.

Mammoth is still open (day to day basis).  2 to 10 foot base, skiing off
the gondola only from 9 to noon.  The snow has finally corned up and
friends are reporting better snow than on the 4th of july.  Mt bike park
finally has most of Beachcruiser open (goes around by chairs 14 and 13 )  
making the list of trails a bit longer (Kamakazi and Downtown were all
that was open before).
