Thoughts On This Volkl Ski Purchase

Post by Alan Fri » Sun, 29 Mar 1998 04:00:00

I just purchased a SKI Package that

included:

Volkl Ultral Carver Skis

Salamon SP 800 Binders

Tecnica T1-4 Boots

I'm satisfied with the skis and bindings.

However I'm not sure if I should have purchased a more high performance type of boot
like the Salamon Explosion or Lange GX9.

The reason I did not make the purchase of the high performance boot was because
they were priced for another $150 which would have made the above $720 purchase
into an $870 purchase.

Is it really worth the extra money?

I'm a strong intermediate and have recently started skiing black diamond trails but
I do not ski on moguls as of yet but plan to learn in the future.

Thanx in advance

Do the boots fit you very well?  Snugly all over your foot? That, after
all, is the most important part.

Not unless you are racing.  Most skiers have boots which are too stiff for
the skiing they do.

If you are going to ski moguls, a boot which is softer front to back is
better.  They are more forgiving.

Vail-Keeps you stiff.

Yes they do but slightly tight around the medial malleoli of both feet (inner ankle bones)
because I have a tendency to pronate.

No I'm not a racer and these boots are pretty flexible.

The boots are pretty flexible and got a rating of 8 out of 10 on their
performance on bumps.

Sounds like I made the right decision and thanx for your input
