Ski Boots for Wide Feet - Recommendations?

Post by chirurg.. » Tue, 03 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I am in the market for some new boots. My old favorites.... rear entry
Salomons have finally given up the ghost.  Does anyone have any
suggestions for a high performance boot that will accomodate E-width feet
with high instep?. I thank you for your help in advance.

I have exactly the same problem. It was solved with Technicas, together
with an orthotic. They are almost comfortable enough to wear arouind the
house. But not quite.

***y typical. All the boot brands mentioned in this post aren't
stocked by the shop  I bought the dreaded rear-entries in.
Rear-entry salomons were the widest thing they had. And the feet still
cramp for most of the morning (yes, got orthotics).  Don't know if this
is caused by the boots still being a tad narrow, or something else.
grumble. And my cheap ski supplier recommended Dachsteins, from memory.

I have just replaced my old pair of Salomon SX91s with a pair of

Lange Mid Max 8 (new model this year)

They are wide enough to accommodate my wide feet.
I originally bought the Salomans because I have very wide feet.

The Mid Max 8's fit my foot so much better.

Maybe one to try?

Koflach's are also known for being wide, like most Austrian boots.  You
might also try Dolomites, especially if you have a narrow heel.  Make sure
to get a footbed to help with the high instep.

Post this question on the snoZone's bulletin board. One of the
panel of experts is a boot fitter and offers good advice.

Me too, and me too.  Great boots, and not even too expensive!

My earlier posting has now resurfaced:

I replaced my boots 2yrs ago and faced the problem of how to get my
platypus-like feet into boots designed for the standard Italian narrow
foot.  My previous boots had undergone a number of heat expansions and were
comfortable.  I was recommended RAICHLE  boots, being Austrian, they did
not suffer from the "winckle-picker" syndrome.  It turns out that they have
been comfortable. They were model 687, rear-entry, but presumably up-dated
by now.

I've had good experience with Nordica Vertech boots for my EE
feet.  I'm able to squeeze down a full boot size without any
discomfort in width.  Skiing all day is a breeze and performance
is much better than average.
