: I was looking at getting a pair of 9000 equipes or F9's a
: few years back and came across the 8000 equipes for half
: price.  I bought them and love them, but have never been
: able to get a good explaination out to the guys in the
: shops what the difference is.

The 8000 Equipe utilizes a different material in the Monocoque shell
where the 9000 Equipe has a more rigid shell.  Another way to interpret
this is that the 8000 is generally a more user friendly race ski.  It
doesn't have as much torsional rigidity as the 9000's and is more
tolerant of skier error.  It was a more logical choice for skiers who
wanted a race performance ski without the high energy output demand of
the 9000's.
