Would it be better to:
(A) have columns which say AGE and YEARS RUNNING, as we have now
(B) have columns which say DATE OF BIRTH and DATE BEGAN RUNNING ???
The advantage to (A) is that these are the numbers which are more
relevant and which people would want to look at immediately.
The advantage to (B) is that these numbers are permanent. I.E., if
we do (A), then we'd have to keep changing the numbers. That would
be VERY hard. If we choose (B) then the numbers won't change. True,
AGE is easier to process mentally than DATE OF BIRTH, *but* AGE and
YEARS RUNNING can quickly be derived from DATE OF BIRTH and DATE BEGAN
RUNNING, so I think it would work just fine with (B).
I think (B) is much easier. Unless there is objection, I'll change it.
When I repost the list, look and see if I got you correct. Round-off
errors mean that the numbers may be off by a year either way (e.g., I've
been running closer to 11 than 12 years and 1994-11 = 1983, but I
actually started at the end of 1982). Email
we can do that too, although year would be enough in general.
