Personal Best Run - Weirdness

Hey guys,

I've been lurking around in this group for some time now, and I think that
this is a great group of people.  Just wanted to tell you about my run last
thursday.  I was out running my usual course in Hyde park (central London,
England) and while I was having my best run, I saw something weird.  Hyde
park in the late afternoon is full of runners.  I saw this guy suddenly
swerve off of the course and over into the grass.  As I run by I notice that
he's relieving himself on a tree (taking a pee) in plain view!!  Not in the
woods.

Well, I went on the finish my run strong.  6 miles in 52:10.6 which is a
personal best for me.  BTW, I'm still taking short walk breaks every 6-9
minutes for 60-90 seconds.  Should I continue this practice or try to cut
the walk breaks out completely?

Hard to say....  but whatever you do, stay away from the patches of brown
grass!  It would appear that someone is marking their territory  :)

It seems to me if you're running 6-milers on a regular basis at around 8
minute mile pace (considering the walking), you don't need the walking.
Don't misunderstand...  there's nothing wrong with breaking the run with
walks.  But if your goal is to get faster as soon as you can, I doubt you
would be risking injury by eliminating the walking periods...  and you would
progress a bit sooner, IMO.
