medal...thought the t-shirt is the ugliest running shirt i've ever
seen. it's already a car-rag. anyone agree?

Yes, and I've never seen it.

haven't seen it, but this would make a good thread... Ugliest Race
Shirts. I had a couple of bad ones, and one of 'em got shredded for rags
almost immediately (it looked embarrassingly like something a 5 year old
drew... and then they went to the expense of having that silk screened
onto a shirt?).

I like the one I got several years ago, a close match to the one for the
LA Marathon the same year but with different/better art work in the
color strip across the chest.  Probably Mercedes has a hand in both
designs.

Worst I've ever gotten was in the second LA Marathon in 1987, a dark
navy blue T-shirt for a race known for its late starts and generally
warm weather, and with white silkscreened lettering.  The nearest thing
to a design was a circle enclosing two laurel sprays and the words "The
City of Los Angeles Marathon;" the date was also in white below the
medallion shape.
