Do you mean the Desert Mountain States chapter of Team In Training that
trained me?  If so, yes.

Congrats Michelle!

(why the discrepancy between # of women and overall? Do some (~300) men
run too?)

Yes, California state nondiscrimination law prevents the organizers from
banning men from running in the race.  But there is no men's elite
division.  In previous years, men didn't get any awards, but I
understand that this year they gave gender awards for men, both for the
top three men, and for the top three in each age group.  I'm not certain
of that, though.  All men who finished got the same Tiffany necklace and
the same finisher's tee shirts that the women get.  And, just like the
women, they got the necklace from a firefighter dressed in a tuxedo and
running shoes.

They did make a token acknowledgement of men in the for-sale gear; there
was one men's tee shirt that said "On October 19, 2008, I ran like a
girl."  The slogan for the race was "Run like a girl", with various
"...like a girl" mottoes sprinkled throughout.  (e.g., "shop like a
girl", "dance like a girl")

Thanks for the congrats.
