I May Be Changing ESPs: questions about Web TV.

people...the time has come...after milking this univ. email account, as i
transition into the real world, this account will expire soon.

i am loath to use my new work email to post, because apparently they have
stricter rules about "what you post" which i did not have to care for as a
grad student and research assistant.  (although my univ. account WAS
suspended (and quickly reinstated) about 5 times in 3 years, due to
various "complaints" from aggrieved people...:))

so i am now looking for an isp.  my question is: what's the scoop on web
tv?  they are advertising a box+wire-free keyboard and the total is under
$ 200 including s/h.  6 email accounts, unlimited access to the web, and
to newsgroups, no need to buy a computer...what's the catch, besides that
you cannot download?

please let me know...or else there may be a cessation in my posts for a
while...:)

Since nobody else has weighed in... I've never used WebTV, myself.

But are you sure you don't want to spend a few hundred bucks more for some
real PC hardware, and about the same amount per month for one of the multitude
of ISP's out there? I can tell you that AT&T Worldnet's newsgroup access is
excellent... although last I checked they were saddling their new subscribers
with the godawful Microsoft software, it's a bit of an adventure to fit it to
Netscape, which (for my money) is a vastly superior interface to newsgroups.

Well, good luck, and I'm sure you'll find something that matches your budget.
Oh, and welcome to the professional world!
