Reading the entryform page for this event (that belt buckle is gorgeous!)

there's a requirement "If running the 100M, you must have completed another
100M with not less than 18,000 feet of elevation gain"

That seems really extreme to me, how many ultras are there that actually
meet this, I doubt it's more than a handful; Leadville is only 15k, Plain100
25k; Hardrock 33k; probably WS100 and that other one in the sierras; HURT.
What else?

I personally know the RD and if he puts a previous 100 with the
elevation as a prereq, it's a tough MF of a race and he is protecting
the runners from getting in over their head and him needing to notify
next of kin.

By the way, what do you consider extreme the previous 100 the elevation
or both? IMO there are soem that fo not have a prereq  that should.

 I'd suggest you takea look at http://www.run100s.com/   Wasatch,
Massanutten, Angeles Crest, Bear, Superior, Iroquois. just to name a few
more. There are more than you think.
