RUNNER'S WORLD SHOE REVIEW

In the Runner's World shoe review that just came out (April issue), they review
a new model of motion control shoe (by Etonic, I believe) that has a semi-curv
ed last. I would like to know if anyone knows of any similar models which provi
de strong motion control (anti-pronation) but are curved rather than straight-l
asted. I'm an over-pronator but I can't run in straight-lasted, rigid shoes.I'm
not sure why a straight last doesn't work for me (I tried th New Balance 997),
but when I try to run (or even walk) in a straight last shoe, my toes point ou
t to the side and I "slap" the ground with my forefoot (which makes my knee fee
l as though it's being twisted. I have a pair of Nike Air Pegasus that work
pretty well and are comfortable but I think they don't  give me enough pr
onation control  though they come pretty close.

Hi!
Ever since I started running about 8 months ago, I have had a continuouslow grade cold. I have been taking vitamin C supplements for a couple months now but it does'nt seem to have any effect.

I have a runny nose every time I run and my nose is stuffed every morning when I get up. I don't have any problems during the day. I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems. Looking for solutions.

Thanks,
Ramkmar

Sounds like you might have a problem called rhinitis, which is an inflamation   of the lining of the nasal passageway.  Try using a humidofier at night and use Ocean nasal spray before you run to moisten the nasal passages.  It is often caused by irritation from being too dry, so this may help.

Hi!  I've had the same symptoms since I've begun running about 2 months
ago.  I keep hoping the persistant cold goes away once I'm more
experienced, but I'm doubtful.  I also have been taking vitamin C and
occasional sinus pills, but I'd like to treat the problem and not the
symptoms.  But I'm not sure what the problem is--I didn't have these
symptoms when I began any other athletic activity.  Anyone else have any
advice?  I don't want to stop running but I'm beginning to wonder if I'm
harming myself in some way that I'm not very sure about?  (I
typically am not sick very often and this "cold" is kind of annoying,
but not very intense).  Any advice from the experienced runners?
THANKS!

Can someone tell me if the ASICS Gel Saga is still made?  Or has it been
replaced by the 121?

The October issue (RW) seems to indicate that the Saga is a different shoe
then the one they rated in 92, now in the Spring Issue, I don't even see it
listed.

Anyone know?

I have had a lot of success with straight last shoes, but can't find any
anymore.  Does anyone know who still makes a straight last.

The following are built on a straight last:
Nike Air Structure II
Brooks Chariot HFX

Undoubtedly there are others, I just don't know which models...

Nike has a straight last in the Air Atlas (assuming they're still making
it.)  The original Air Structure was a straight last also, but I'm not
sure if the new one is.
