I just noticed that purchasing a USATF card is required for running the San
Francisco Marathon. What will a membership get me besides the right to run
the marathon?
Thanks,
Kevin
Thanks,
Kevin
They required this for the Columbus OH marathon also.
That was my question - what good is the card?
Other than the right to "officially" run the marathon?
stephen.
A USATF card is, at a minimum, a prereq. for getting USATF championships
points in one of their designated events.
This would appear to be an attempt by the body to force membership on folks
for the sake of increased revenue. I am a member and would encourage all
runners to join; however, this may have the effect of discouraging runners
from participating in races - not, I assume, the intention.
Is there someone out there representing the organization that would like to
speak to this?
