I'm doing the Portland Marathon as an alternative.  I did it last year,
and it is a great marathon.  With so many trying for the 100th Boston
qualifier this year, good luck to anyone who can wrestle a entry from a
registered runner!!!

I know a few people who are willing to let their entries go.  How are you
going to run under some one elses registered name though???  Let me know,
and I'll put you in touch.

Hello,

I'm off to Minneapolis next week (U.Minn).  Can anyone tell me where
the decent places to run there are?  Are there any exciting races in the next
couple of weeks?

You are in for a treat as this is the best (IMHO) time of the year to run
in MPLS.  I used to live by Lake of the Isles, which is connected to Lake
Calhoun and Lake Harriet by running/biking paths and is part of the
Parkway system.  For a longer run you can also head towards Lake Nokomis
(the first 3 are in an area of MPLS called "Uptown")  There are also some
nice Park reserves to run at if you like trails/hills.

As for upcoming races, here are the ones I used to like:
Labor Day: Victory 10K - flat and FAST!!!
Following weekend: City of Lakes 25K - figure-eights around the lakes
Oct 7: Twin Cities Marathon and 5K

Have fun!

Depending on where you live, there are a few places I like to run closer to
the UMinn(minneapolis campus).  They are East river road. West river road and
in and around Nichollet and Boom island.  have fun
