Chicago - 13 days to go

Its hard to believe that after months of preparation its almost here. I can
still remember in January when I saw the date for Chicago Marathon and that
it coincided with my 40th birthday...saying to myself "go for it". The 20
milers from hell. Tell me I'm not pumped!
This 10 K runner may be a marathoner after all.

Do any of y'all know the easiest way to get from O'Hara to the Chicago
Renaissance? Also, how close is the Renaissance to The Hilton and the start
finish area?
Thanks

Hello Randy -

How far?  About 11 blocks.  Nine south and two east.

Easiest way?  There is an airport limo service that goes to all of the
downtown hotels.  Faster choice - take the Blue Line "L" and subway from the
lower level at O'Hare all the way downtown to the "Clark Street" station -
$1.50 per person.  When you exit, go east 1/2 block to Clark Street, then
north 1 block to Wacker Drive (and the river), then east a block and a half
to the hotel.  Transit maps at the O'Hare "L" station have a good detail of
downtown.

Stop by the Chicago Area Runners Association at the Expo and say hi!

Depending on what time you are
heading downtown a cab or
limo might be your best bet.
Normally I would say take the
"L" blue line but it is a long
all the way from O'Hare so
if you do choose the train
give yourself about an hour
of travel time.

I was wishing td would respond to that because rush hour(s) around here
start around 3:00 and go both ways (outbound and inbound) and that fact sort
of levels the playing field for all four or five options for getting down
town.  I e-mailed a list of options and times and advantages/disadvantages
directly to the original poster because it is long and way off topic.  If
any one else is coming in to O'Hare and wants the info, let me know and I
will forward it.
