I understand that both the marathon and half-marathon at Kiawah Island
resort are full. (Dec 15th race) I'll be down there anyway so I
thought there might be a chance of signing up raceday morning. Anybody
here ever done this race? Did you notice if they took signups the day
of the race? Thanks for any info you might be able to give me about
getting in.

I'm pretty sure the half and full marathons are full. They tend to fill up
fairly quickly now because of limits imposed by local homeowners. Not sure of
5K. It wouldn't hurt to beg the race organizers and to let local running clubs
and stores know you are willing to buy a number from someone who has changed
their plans.

go to the kiawah island web site - sorry don't have the url - and ask if it
is full.

The limits have as much to do with the limited access to the island as the
homeowners. I ran this a couple of years ago and stayed on the island. They
have a package for the runners that is reasonable and the house (luck of the
upgrade -goddess) was great. There was a wreck on the causeway - runners
staying of site driving in. Race managment delayed the start of the race
because the traffic jam back up delayed so many participants.

The resort does a great job; plus - flat easy course; weather varies; wind
can be bad on the ocean leg; they have a great buffet afterwards; I plan to
do it again
