Golden Gate Park is a popular running area. Somewhat hilly.
Certainly, as mentioned by Richard, along the wharfs.
The Great highway along the ocean is popular. S.F. ocean weather is
cool, windy.
Clothes for running. Probably what you use in the morning, along with a
wind breaker. S.F. is usually 55'F.
There's a Hash House Harriers. I believe they meet monday eve's.
For a change of pace, run across the Golden Gate Bridge. 4-5 miles
one way. there's a sidewalk with runners walkers cycles and a neat view.
I almost forgot, the Presideo,(sp). Right at the S.F. end of the bridge.
You can even jog thru China Town and take in the sights, people.
All of these are close to downtown.

|> There are lots of nice runs along the shoreline perimeter of San Francisco.
|> You are about a mile away in Union Square. Run down to Market, then up
|> that street to the warf, then either way along the shoreline.
|> You will run under the Bay Bridge.
|>
|> You can get to Fisherman's Warf and the marina area by taking the Powell
|> Street Cable car or Bus 30 that run through Union Square.
|>
|> Downtown where you are staying is a dump. Do not linger in around the 6th
