area that has knowledgeable staff to help me select a

Try Ryans in I think it is Santa Clara; Gary Goettleman owns/runs it,
and he is most knowledgeable--if JUST A LITTLE strongly minded!  Gary
coaches one of the best running groups in the West Coast, and he was
a top level 5000 meter runner in his college days of 20+ years ago!

I know a three.  Ryans in Santa Clara.  The owner is Gary Goetleman.  It is
located between Lafeyette and Monroe.  I believe the street is Benton.  It
is on the same street as Wilson's bakery.  The number is 408-985-6886.  It
is between El Camino and SCU.

The other two are in Los Gatos.  Runners Factory is on University and
Athletic Performance is on Main (the same street as the high school).
