anyone try Cho-Pat knee or achilles tendon strap?

Post by John Bowe » Mon, 28 Sep 1998 04:00:00

i suffer from almost chronic pattalofemural (sp??) syndrome (runners knee).
I have been to a physical therapist.  I am working my quads, that seems to
help some.  He also has given me a knee brace that supposedly helps to keep
my knee cap tracking straight.  Doesn't work.

I also suffer from minor achilles tendonitis, mainly when I start doing
speed work.  it is most problematic when I wake up in the morning.

Anyone have any experience or luck with Cho-Pat's knee and achilles tendon
straps?   I went to their internet site; they sent me a brohure in the mail.
Prices seem very reasonable, but i don't want to buy these things if they
don't help.

thanks,

john

For what it's worth, my doctor and PT told me to stay away from knee
braces of any type. They want the patella to track freely wherever it
may. Worked for me. My knees are cured.

I only have experience with the knee strap.  I too have "runners knee" and the
strap has helped me tremendously.  For me, it worked instantly; as soon as I put
the strap on I was able to run as far as I wanted without any hint of runners
knee pain.

One word of advice.  It's real easy to become dependent on it.  I've only
recently began to run without it after using it continually for 2 years.
