Reading this news group and other web sites, it seems to me that
plenty(variety) of carbo, vegies and some protein are recommended for
runner's nutrients. That has been exactly my eating scheme for last three
months. Result? Severe weight loss! On a typical running day, I consume
about 3500 kcal or more and on a rest day slightly less. I guess it's very
enough for 150 lb guy like me, but I lost 10 lb. Do I have cancer or
diabetes? *** test showed that I don't.
Since 2 weeks ago, I have added more meats to my diet. I'm gaining back
some pounds and even feel more energetic when running. I run 28~35 miles a
week and it seems that meats are my 94 octane super supreme gasoline to help
me get this mileage easily.
Some people may eat like me and some may not. Do you? I'm really curious
what they in this newsgroup eat usually.

I am on the "see food" diet.  Whatever food I see that I want to eat, I
eat.  I try to keep the concept of moderation in mind, but it's usually
at the back of my mind, at the opposite end from where my mouth and all
the food is found.  For me, moderation just means having two or three
pieces of cake instead of the entire thing.  But I should also add I'm a
vegetarian, so I still survive without meat.

Be aware that any change, diet or otherwise, takes time to get used to.
Consider that you may have changed your diet too drastically.  You might
try a post-run recovery product that's got some protein in it, and you
might even try protein supplements in one form or another.

IIRC, protein is usually included in the list.  Especially shortly after
exercise to expedite rebuilding.

I also need to eat meat  - I physically can tell when I haven't been eating
enough, because I don't get the speed or the endurance that I want when I
don't.  In addition, I have also have a problem being underweight and
keeping on the pounds.  But I find when I eat enough meat and am running, I
put on weight (which is good).   I also lose weight when i stop running - as
I have found this past month with the injuries in my hip!

To supplement my carnivore-ish diet, I try to eat lots of greens, carrots,
fruits (especially banana's), ice cream shakes, and loads of potatoes. Oh
yeah, and Milk, milk, milk.  I never actually researched into it to choose
this diet, its just what I prefer to eat and I think it does well for me.

Maybe it's iron that you need in your diet.
