I am not sure about the dive course, but I think the hotel you are
talking about is Jules'
Undersea Lodge.  They have a web page at  http://www.jul.com/  for more
info.

The place is in/near Pennekamp. Not sure of whether or not an astronaut
actually does the course, but I know there is some
affilliation/association. The hotel is called Jules Undersea Lodge and I
have heard mixed reviews from those that actually stayed there. The number
is in the book -- don't think there's a web presence.

Aaron Abbott said,
The Jules Undersea Lodge is in Key Largo, Fla. They have a spot on
one of the south Fla. recreation pages, I ran onto it the other day.
I stayed there in March of last year, and I thought it was alright.
It's no four star hotel, it's underwater for crying out loud! It was
about $135. a night/ per person. I had friends with me,(and wine) and we
had a great time. Night dives are too cool! There is all kind of extras
you can get.
They have a lagoon roped off in the c***that is a half a block
from the ocean and you can use the super snorkel to paddle around to
your hearts content.
There is a great restruant right behind the lodge called the
Hideaway. Very reasonably priced, and very good food. All the locals
know about it, but they don't tell!
The Jules Undersea Lodge is at 51 Shoreland Drive, Key Largo, Fla.
Phone 305-451-2353, Turn oceanside at the Hideaway Restruant sign at the
103.2 Mile Marker.
I don't know anything about an astronaut being affilliated with the
lodge, but anything is possable.
Doing time on planet ocean, or more to the point, in it!   AA.

I think it is Scott Carpenter. I hear it is fun to just do a dive there in the lagoon.
