This is the first I have heard of this.
Any divers using helium experiencing any trouble getting it?

The looming shortage of helium has been reported for the last 10+ years.

More effort should go into scavenging and recovery where it's used.  Our
factory (where I used to work) had helium and N2 scavenging systems
(recovered gases from test chambers).

Helium is a heavily manipulated market.  We've been hearing about a
shortage for many years, as another has posted. I have heard of a few
people recently who couldn't buy helium from Airgas, but AFAIK the other
suppliers are supplying. Anyone who wants helium should be able to find
it, although they might have to travel a little. I know I can buy helium
if I want it.

Did you read the article?  Like the part about party balloon suppliers
who can't get helium at all?

Nope.  Picking up a tank Monday.  In stock.  Same price as it was in
February (which is less than I paid last year).

I just checked my local supplier... Helium is going for $80 for a T-size
(300 cu-ft) cylinder and O2 is going for $40... For the K-size (200 cu-ft)
cylinders, helium is going for $60 and O2 is going for $28.
