Best Dive Site in Key Largo?

Post by Dan Stegm » Fri, 08 Sep 1995 04:00:00

Hello all,

There appears to be lots of people who have dived in Pennekamp with the
shops in Key Largo.  My instructor tells me to go to Quiescence, but I'm
wondering...  what is the best dive SPOT in Pennekamp?  Note that my buddy
doesn't wish to exceed 40' right now..

Thanks in advance,

Dan Stegman

Best Dive Site in Key Largo?

My neoprene-type SAS drysuit, which I loved, was stolen from my carport. I
got a good deal on a Harvey's neoprene type suit which is similar and
perhaps a little better made. But- it has no wrist and ankle seals, only
the semi-dry type which do not fold over. I have tried *** bands and
velcro straps but am still unsatisfied, especially with my sinewy wrist
situation. SO--

Latex seals seem nice. Is it possible to install them on a neoprene suit?
Is it adviseable?
Can I install them myself and where to obtain?
or-Where can it be done and for how much?

Same questions for regular seals.

Thanks in advance, Paul Smith

We have had many customers successfully install***wrist and ankle
seals to neoprene suits.  The most important part of the installation is
using the correct glue.  You can go to any dive shop in the US and they
can order for you the wrist and ankle seals as well as the PB300 glue.
Instructions for installation are in the glue package.

I hope I offered a little hope and good luck on your job!

Best Dive Site in Key Largo?

My favorite dive in Largo was the Duane wreck but that's at 100'. Virtually
the whole reef is above 30'. Quiesence was really good but we actually found
that Captain Slate's Atlantis Dive shop was the best all around value. If you
do multiple dives with them you can do them for about $40 versus about
$52 for Quiesence. THe staff at Atlantis were also great. THe big drawback
is the boats. On the weekends Atlantis can be very full (around this time of
year) while Quiesence will always have 6 people max.

If you get a chance, drive down to Looe key. This is the prettiest reef we
saw in the keys.

Hope this helps.
