REQ: Info on best Jamaican Dive sites

Post by J. Mitchel Bo » Thu, 15 Aug 1996 04:00:00

I'm planning a trip to Jamaica in mid/late November.  I appreciate a
little info on the best dive spots.  The topside world, while vastly
less significant, also should have character.  Thanks in advance for any
help.

IMHO, the best combination of reliable diving weather and a wide variety
of shore activities is in Negril, which is 50 miles west of Montego Bay.
There is too much fishing with small-mesh nets for big fish.  Best fish,
but no better than average Caribbean, near Port Antonio, which is a hard
drive from Montego Bay and Kingston and has less variety topside.  North
Coast has a few walls.  E-mail if you want specifics on dive shops, etc.
