i've heard about a cd rom for divers (not for kids) for caribbean reef
fish identification.  It might be called "fish-eye".  Anyone have any
info on this and where I can purchase?

thanks

The only one I've seen is the one that Performance Divers (and presumably
other sources) sell.  It seems pitched somewhere between kids and marine
biologists.  I like it, especially the movies that show some of the
fish changing through their different phases as they mature.  It covers
the basics, and it certainly
doesn't have all the plumages of all the fish (for example, a maturing
puddingwife would be neat), so it may be the kids' one you refer to.  If
not, Joe-Bob says "Check It Out."

Buen buceo,

John

I don't believe the CD has "Fisheye" anywhere on it, but the folks
at Fisheye of Cayman (in Grand Cayman; they operate a shop and dive boats
there) produced it (through a company called Sea-D something or other;
sorry, I don't have the CD right in front of me at this moment).  In any
case, while you might find it available in the States, you could also
call Fisheye.  They have a web page at www.fisheye.com.  I'm not
affiliated with them; I'm just a satisfied customer of their dive
operation.
