$200 for PADI

I want to become PADA certified --

I currently live in Indiana but visit FL frequently (ie: 5 times a year)
and after school plan on moving to FL (next April).  A local dive shop
is offering the PADI course for $200 which includes everything (open water
dives, wet suits, tanks, etc -- except fins, mask and snorkel.  Is $200
the "going" rate?

Re:  I've paid $180 for dive lesson through PADI and all that included was
the instructions, no dive gear at all, so I think your price is very good.

Seems pretty reasonable to me. I got certified in Maryland in 1987, and it
cost me $225, plus fins, mask, snorkel, weight belt and weights.

Be wary of places that offer cheap certifications. I know of a number of
places around here which advertise $120 classes, but you have to buy books,
pay for pool memberships, rent gear, and pay extra for the certification
dives. The equivalent cost at one place I priced out would have been over
$350.
