Where is a good place to learn in the SF Bay area?

I've just finished watching the "Free Fall" laser disk and then checked
for such a forum as this. What did I see first? The amazing statistics
about malfunctions. The numbers (of malfunctions) seem reassuringly low
to me. Soooooo... I'm ready to think about thinkin' seriously about
Skydiving.

Many years ago (in the sixties) I made about a dozen jumps in round, ex-Navy
'chutes. Nothing like what you folks use today existed then. It looks safer
now and appears to provide you with much more control--and fun!

I would greatly appreciate any info about clubs, schools or whatever, that
are located in the SF San Jose area.

Also, it it still standard to start out students with static line jumps,
followed by some jump-and-pulls? (Does this sound like ancient history?)

Thanks,

John Hesse

Hey! C-9 canopies in B-2 packs, weren't they?

 ... with T7 army reserves.

Here Down Under we used to scan mail order military
surplus store ads in magazines and wait months for the
gear to arrive by sea from the US...

Then we'd sit down at the sewing machine and mod them ourselves.

I once hacked three gores out of a C9 and cut drive panels
across 11 gores.  I used to be 6ft 2 when I started jumping
 that. Now I'm 4ft 6.  |*)
