Rx lens in sport frames (not adaptor)?

Rx lens in sport frames (not adaptor)?

Post by ROBERT BURGES » Sat, 12 Aug 2000 04:00:00

I would like to put Rx Transition lens directly into a sport eyeglass frame.
I have found one company that does this ("Sport Rx") but their selection of
styles is limited.  Does anyone have experience with using this setup or
know a firm that fills prescriptions as such?  Thanks

If the frame is Rx-able, any good lab should be able to put a transition lens
into it.  sometimes a steeper base curve is required to fit the frame, and
strange optics result.

Ive got a pair of killer loops, with prescription...no
probs, only problem is that some people cant adjust to the
optically different result(not a bad result, just
different), i personally had no probs.

I got my local optometrist to put prescription Transition lenses in a Bolle
sports frame. The frame I chose was the Bolle Naja. It was about half the
price of getting the Oakley lenses/frames.

How quickly do the Transition lenses adjust? I ride some mtb trails that
take me from bright sun to deep, dark woods very suddenly. Do Transitions
work well enough in those situations? Also, are they available in brown, or
just gray? Thanks / JAMES

Transistion does not mean instantaneously. It takes a few seconds.
