Note: Did the US only send one rider (Hegg)? I thought that
      Copleland or Bostick would have gone, too.

World Championships: Mens 4000m Individual Pursuit Qualifying

Former World Champion in the Pro 5000m Individual Pursuit, looks like
combining the pro and amateur category is making things interesting!

There was a question, did the US only send one rider (Hegg).  Steve Hegg
was the only US rider to qualify.  Pursuit has standards which must be met
in order to compete.
