Another riding update. . . .

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.  It's cooled off a bit here in Aiken
and we've been able to ride in the afternoon.

The update is that Westwind and I have started schooling First Level.  Can
you imagine it?  Me, the person who didn't want to go faster than a trot and
wanted to compete at Intro Level forever, schooling *First Level*?!?

So far we've done extended trot and canter and leg yields in trot and
canter.  The dressage ring hasn't been put back up yet, so I haven't tried
15-meter circles yet.  Sitting trot is coming along okay, as long as I ride
in a circle.  :)  Steering while sitting the trot is another thing that I
have to work on.  And yes, I know that the rules have changed so that
sitting trot is optional, but I still need to learn to sit the trot if I
want to compete above First Level.

<Shakes head>  Me, contemplating showing above Training Level.  :D

Westwind has turned out the be a really good horse for me.  Have I mentioned
lately that I love my horsie?

How is everyone's riding coming along?

Chris

Riding is somewhat non-existent at the moment.  The "Attack Of The
Killer Tomatoes" has begun.  All at once.  It's a full on *** I tell
ya!!!!   Looks like any rides I get in will be short and (hopefully)
sweet and probably in the evening.

"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" is one of the most under-rated cult
movies of all time.  It could have been a Rocky Horror with better
promotion.

I miss having a garden.  I'm presently living in a cottage in the
forest, no sunny patch to garden and no room in my tiny cottage for any
indoor growing either.  My sister has all the tomatoes going, but she's
a fair drive from my place so I don't get up there often.  I envy you
your tomato attack!  I hope you are enjoying fresh tomatoes and canning
the excess to enjoy many tomato dishes year-round.

Then you get to reward yourself with a nice ride in the evening!

I remember you worrying about cantering. You just needed the right horse
and you found him.

Yep!  Also making some tomato juice and a lot of salsa.

I'm certainly looking forward to that!!

If it is your own forest, you can do something about that...
