NBC had previously aired virtually all of this coverage in the morning
(unscheduled, but I'd left a tape running just in case). They must have
redubbed the commentary a little for the evening's version as the
morning's version had even less of interest. Distinctly lacking in
quality as well as quantity. Haven't seen anything on our CBC yet,
but I'm at least hoping for decent quality there.

CBC has been better than NBC, the French-language channel is showing more
than the English ones (we have a satellite dish and can get them all).  No
complaints about the commentators - I can't understand them (did figure
out "medium gallop" during the dressgae tests!).  They showed at least
three dressage tests (two Canadians, one British), one test at a time, in
its entirety (sp?), then cut away to another sport.  They showed longer
segments of the cross country with cameras at more fences than NBC.

Ah Richard...
The CBC showed 20seconds of the 3day -Claire Smith's dressage ride
when we temporarily held third place in the event.  Sorry you guys
but it actually makes the NBC coverage look good in comparison :(.
Hopefully the CBC will do a better job with the jumping but who knows.
They've opted for interviews with Jimmy Carter, discussions of the
Atlanta subway system, and endless predictions of whether or not
Donovan Bailey might win.  The alternative might have been.. gee..
actually showing the sports?

You got THAT right!  CBC's coverage is abysmal compared to NBC's
which "ain't exactly excellent"!

So far no dressage (except the brief pass for 3-day) but what
can we expect from the uneducated producers?

If they cut the drivel there'd be more time for all
the "underdog" sports (i.e. those that don't draw huge sponsorship
dollars)!

> According to the CBC homepage, equestrian wasn't scheduled for showing

until July 29th and from the schedule it looked like they would be
showing something from all three days of show jumping, and at least
some of the two days of the dressage (the freestyle day is included).
They weren't going to cover the 3-Day according the schedule so that
might be one explanation.
