Request: Need equine-related legal advice?

Post by sider.. » Sun, 01 Jan 1995 06:28:06

I have just gone through a terrible ordeal with the sale of my eventer mare and
feel I've been pretty well swindled. Is there anyone in this group who would
render an opinion as to where I stand or could provide the name of a good
equine-related lawyer to whom I could talk to? I am considering a suit, but do
not know what my rights are in this situation. The "agreement" in question took
place in MD, in case this is important. Thanks in advance for any help.

Request: Need equine-related legal advice?

I am an attorney in Wisconsin, and I do have some connections with
attorneys in the equine field from seminars.  However, I don't know any
that are in MD, or admitted to practice there.  Depending on the problem,
a good commercial practitioner would probably do just as well.  Legally
speaking, in most states horses are treated as items of commerce just as
any other type of livestock or goods.  There should be some sort of
referral service provided by your state Bar Association that would give
you some direction on this.  Good Luck!
