Need help finding tall boot

Hi Recequers,

I saved my pennies until I had enough to buy the Ariat tall boots I have
dreamed of ever since purchasing the most comfortable paddock shoe (by Ariat) I
have ever worn.

When I tried them on at the store, I found that my instep is too high to fit in
them, even the field boot.

I am tall and rather thin so I do not need a boot with a wide calf.

Someone please recommend a tall boot for lower level dressage that will fit a
high instep.  Do I have to go custom?  If so, where do I start?  What will it
cost me?

Hi Heelz,

Try the Effingham Legends, which are made of calf and fully lined.
These run an inch taller than the regular Effinghams, which are
cowhide. Effingham will semi-custom their boots, so if you need them
even taller than their stock tall size they can accommodate you. I've
seen the Legends for about $350-$400, so shop around.

Also, Dehner's has stock boots which come in a zillion different
sizes. Check their website out.

Custom is probably the way to go - my Dehners cost about $635 two years ago.  A
friend just puchased Vogels for a hair under $700.  This is a lot of money, but
if you are not a professional, and wearing them 8 hours a day at 25 shows a
year, they can last 10 years, so the money is well worth it.

Be sure that the person who measures you knows what they are doing, and I would
not suggest measuring yourself.  If you don't know of anyone who does this, you
can probably get a list of local reps from the boot manufacturer.

good luck! (PS - most bootmakers are backed up at this time of year, so you may
have to wait 4 months)

Try Dressage Extentions 1800-541-3708
The Cavallo and the Konigs come in different height sizes. What I did was order
the tall as I have long skinny legs, and then send them to woody's for him to
put in zippers. both styles are going to run you betwween $500-$600. BUT well
worth the investment

I used to sell hundreds of the Cavallo boots......the good thing about them
is that there are something like 150 different sizes in height and calf
combinations.  You can usually get something which is as close to
"made-to-measure" as possible without the extra cost.  With all those size
combinations though, you sometimes have to wait a little while for delivery.
Make sure you find a retailer who knows what they are talking about, and be
sure to allow at least 1 1/2 -2 inches extra in the height so that they are
perfect by the time they have "dropped"

When you do purchase whatever non-Ariat boot you need to get to fit your
instep, go get yourself a pair of Ariat gel footbeds to slip into them.  You
may find they are nearly as comfortable as the full Ariat.

#std disclaimer, and I probably chopped out a bunch of stuff.
