I'm 16 and have been riding for 10 years.
I compete in hunters and currently riding a
green mare.  I'm interesting in some
yielding exercises.
Thanks,
Bill

leg yielding exercise

Hi there!!  A great way to supple up a hunter is to let them free their
shoulders at a posting trot, while pushing them around with your legs.
Use your outside leg behind the girth while your inside leg is at the girth.
This causes your horse to bend and can teach them to go off of the outside rein
later in your training.  Don't just ride around the perimeter of the arena,
make small circles and serpentines as well.  Don't forget  to change your
legs when you change your diagonal.  Also, don't force your mare into a frame.
Let her muscles develop naturally.  Use "giving" hands.  Legs are more importan
t than hands.  Seat is more important than hands.  Have fun:)
