end of winter fuzzies

end of winter fuzzies

As I was long-lining my soon-to-be-four year old Trakehner, Letzte, I gave
a little chuckle when I noticed that behind the surcingle she's a *very*
light grey, and in front of the surcingle, she's a very *dark* grey.  It
really looked strange and I hadn't noticed before that she looks two-toned.
The surcingle cut the color precisely in half!  I'm in constant wonderment
at what her color will be this year.  Last year had me guessing for 2 or 3
months, so I'm sure it'll be a surprise.  (But I do hope it ends up to be
the steel grey again.)

What I find fascinating about the color change is that when I groom her,
more hair comes out from her sides and rump, but it seems that she's mostly
finished shedding in the chest and neck.   Where'd all the winter fuzz go?
