Update on John (Earthquake) Tenta's battle against cancer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Posted on 1/13/106 by Bob Magee

John Tenta posted an update on his battle against cancer in his diary,
housed at the Wrestle***forums:

"Well long time, no post. I've been very busy. My last scan results were
very disappointing. Despite being on chemo, the tumors in my hip, and both
lungs continued to grow.

The doctor is starting me on new chemo this Monday. It is a new combination
of chemo I've already had. The doctor says it has a one in ten chance of
working. If that doesn't work, I will try experimental ***. If nothing
works, I have a life expectancy of six months to a year.

As soon as we got that news, Josie wanted the family to go visit family, and
friends in Canada, so that is what we did. We had a wonderful visit, and saw
everyone we had hoped to see. We pretty much avoided talking about WHY we
were there, but that's okay, I wanted a happy Christmas, which it was. I had
thought we could go next year as we had a quiet Christmas planned, but......

My parents, one sister, and nephew attended Christmas mass with us so that
was great. I've been in a lot of pain lately, and the morphine doesn't seem
to work so well. They've increased the dosage for me. I probably won't post
quite as much as I used to, due to a few things- my pain, and the fact that
my time has become much more valuable to my family. I'm sorry if I don't
answer questions or e-mails. Please understand. I'll answer what I can, when
I can.

God Bless you all,
'Quake"

Man, this doesn't sound too good -- especially the pain. Once that sets
in, it isn't good.

If thiings get too bad, I would not think less of the man if he asks
Dr. Kevorkian for some assistance.

I am not trolling.  I sincerely mean this.  I had a cousin (my age, 33
at the time) who had several medical issues.  He was in constant pain
and he had to use a colostomy bag.  One day he had enough.  He packed
up his truck and drove away.  A couple months later he was found in
California overlooking a serene view with a pipe from the exhaust in
the cab of the truck.
I do not advocate suicide as a means of easing the pain of simple
problems (lost job, wife, etc.).  My cousin's case, as is Mr. Tenta's,
is extraordinary.

That being said, I hope he continues to fight the good fight until the
end, and may it go into remission.

As long as you can breathe, there is hope.

I'm not a religious type of guy but John Tenta has been(and will continue to
be in) my "prayers" ever since I first learned of his battle with cancer.
