From the Torch:
-----
Hulk Hogan is Hulk Hogan! He thanks each and every one of you
Hulkamaniacs for making his show "Hogan Knows Best" the highest
rated debut on VH-1.

He tells Shawn Michaels to get his ass out there. Michaels stands on
the ramp. HBK is all about Stealing the Thunder. Big Hogan chants.
HBK doesn't want any press junket to get in the way of Hogan's answer.
What can Shawn Michaels show Hulk Hogan that he has never seen?
"You have never faced anyone with the unbridled passion of Shawn
Michaels," says Shawn Michaels. He wants to push Hogan to step up
for the first time and go to the next level.

Good luck, he's an old man with artificial knees and hips, leather
skin, who knows what internally, who can't walk without limping.

Hogan says when HBK was in high school he was selling out the
Philadelphia Spectrum. All you had to is ask. Your ass is on.
Whatchu gonna do....

Hogan is fine sticking to the basics, but Michaels hedging his bets so
he can stay babyface (like he worked all weekend) after it's over is
taking some of the edge off.

Agreed.  This should be the most fascinating of the Summerslam
matches... can HBK draw *** out of Hogan?  He's had a string
of ****+ matches over the last year or so; but those were with
guys like Benoit, Orton, HHH, Jericho, Benjamin, and Angle.  All
of those guys could more than carry their end of a legit **** match.
But an old, broken-down Hogan???  He could scarcely dig up a
single snowflake even in his prime.  HBK will bump like a ***
ball, no doubt, and Hogan will go over clean; but it's clear from
Michaels's promos that winning or losing isn't the issue... he simply
wants one match with Hogan, and he wants Hogan to bring his "A"
game to that match.  Whether Hogan even has a "C" game, much
less an "A", is questionable.  If Michaels can pull something watchable
out of this (an expected hot crowd should help), he will definitely
achieve some form of Workrate Dietydom.

It's obvious HBK's not buying into a heel turn... his promos have
all been definite tweener material.  It seems the fans want to hear
him go full-bore heel, this newsgroup wants to hear him go heel,
other message boards have said similar; but he's been playing
what could best be described as a "shoot tweener"... someone
who's being honest and as emotional as possible with a simple
message of not caring about wins or losses, just about getting
an opponent's best effort in the ring.  That's fine and dandy if
someone has announced his retirement and is being booked
towards a final set of matches (maybe here?); but the lack of
a solidly defined heel takes the edge off the over-the-top face
act that Hulkamania thrives on.  Hogan in full kayfabe mode
and Michaels in shoot mode aren't melding into anything that's
really allowing the common fan to latch onto emotionally.

As for post-Summerslam... what happens to HBK?  He's faced
Benjamin, HHH, Jericho, Edge, Angle... if he moves on to feuding
with Cena, he'll DEFINITELY have to go full heel (which he's
seemingly not wanting to do).  Carlito... I don't see it.

I was feeling the same way.

HBK is THIS CLOSE to ruling it as a heel....the Piper thing was great.
He should change his attire as well and play up the "Look what I just
did" steely look thing.  I think if Hogan is willing take mini bumps
off of Michaels acrobatics....hopefully that makes sense.....HBK can do
all the high spots but create dramatic "impacts" and train wrecks with
Hogan being on the floor, ground, but taking some punishment...he
should be able to manage some counter moves off high spots or
something.  It also would be different if he would pull out a few
actual wrestling moves.....like the ankle lock, Walls of
Jericho.....they could even play up the fact he is the MAN and can do
all the moves everyone else does, if he chooses.....just make them
ground based moves...that and some bumping with HBK pulling out all the
stops and doing the high flying...could get it done....maybe.
