New video: BGT Scorpion

Post by Dave Althoff J » Fri, 05 Oct 2012 07:46:40

I've posted a "new" video project to the Web, and somehow forgot to
promote it here. I guess I'm derelict in my spamming duties or
something...

Anyway, it's compiled from video that I shot in 1996 on a visit to Busch
Gardens Tampa (or whatever they called it back then).  Kumba was the new
shiny at the time, but I actually had more fun on the Scorpion. Even
better, I asked the operator if I could shoot video.  Having already
asked over on Kumba, I expected I knew the answer.

I was wrong.

So I returned to the ride with my video camera (a Canon E61).  Six***
years later, I finally have a chance to share the results.

I've posted this in two different places; please let me know if you, as
a viewer, prefer one over the other.  It seems that blip is now doing
things that are contrary to the reason I started using them in the
first place, and vimeo has gotten a lot better since then.

So here are the direct links:

via vimeo:  http://SportToday.org/

And of course if you want to review everything I now have on-line...

Oh, and as long as I am engaging in shameless self-promotion, I should
note that I have a new home on the World Wide Web:

I checked out your page www.davealthoff.com, and while the home page
to the Dave's Adventures section works, the links on that page (I
tried about 5 or 6) all come up with 404- Page not found.

Oops!  Thanks for that quality check!  I'll fix that right now!  The
directory structure is totally different, and I thought I had found all
those links before I moved the site.  (user looks) Oh.  That page really
shouldn't even be there right now.  Sorry about that!

At Capital, I didn't have to worry about a disk quota, as I was one of
only a handful of people using the web server.  Now that I am using
commercial hosting, I have a small quota and I haven't yet figured out
how much I can bring back; plus I really want to re-do the way the trip
report archive is presented, maybe bring it into the 20th century.  8-)

So not everything is up right now, but I am going to bring back as much
as I can.  For now, the old site is still working, but I expect it to
disappear without warning at any time.  It technically should have gone
down at the end of June, but that server is scheduled for retirement, so
it will probably stay up until the server gets shut off...

No problem! Figured you'd want to know!
