SF Great Adv. MISLEADS THE PUBLIC(B&R:The Chiller)

Post by AdHurdl » Wed, 18 Jun 1997 04:00:00

Coaster Friends,
I just wanted to let others know how much I am in an uproar about
how Six Flags is handling The Chiller situation.  I understand if changes
must be made but STOP MISLEADING THE PUBLIC!!!!!
All of the radio and tv commercials say "come and ride the new
batman and robin the chiller".   Doesn't that sound like it is open?  I
believe so...
This is total misrepresentation by Six Flags.   All they do to cover
their butts is give a paper when you park that says "The chiller will not
be open today.   We regret the inconvenience."  All I can say to this is
that I am glad I only live 40 minutes away and I have a season pass.  I
feel extremely bad for those who come from CT,VA,NY and drive 4 hours (and
pay $37.10 which is extreme and quite amusing!) to find it is not open.  I
would be quite pissed off!
I just would like to tell Six Flags how in good buisness practice
you can not do this to the public.   That is called misleading the public.
Six Flags has made no attempt to inform the public that the ride is
closed!  They act as if it was open and mislead the public and rack in all
of those poor people who pay $37.10 to ride a ride that should be open(or
at least the public believes so!).
I was planning to write Six Flags a letter, but I know they won't
care.  So I am going to write to the NJ Better Buisness Bureau instead.
And maybe by posting this...this might do some more damage.(I Hope!)
If anyone knows anything else to do please send me mail or post to
the group!
Thanks and I know one person who won't be renewing his season pass next
year!

            Adam

What do you mean by this comment? Wouldn't you agree with the above posting
that they are misleading the public and something should be done about it. I
know if I travel x amount of miles to ride a coaster and they are advertising
that it is open and it is not I'm being reimbursed for all my expenses like I
was when I went to Kennywood from Ohio and the Steel Phantom was down. I will
cause an uproar and will not mind spending a night in jail. I have money and
lots of it. The satisfaction I will get and the bad publicity the park will
receive is well worth the expense.

When a ride is simply down for the day it is hard to warn park visitors.
The most you will get, for example, at Kennywood is a sign at the gate
showing which rides are closed for the day. I was mad when various
coasters at CP were down one of the days I went to CP this year. But
there is not much the park can do to warn you in advance.

On the other hand, when a ride has not yet been completely constructed
or if it is closed down for a significant number of days, advertising
should not occur or a notice about the ride's status should be given.
Geauga Lake has been advertising
Mr. Hyde's *** Fall and the ride is (was?) not even finished. The park
should note
the projected opening date on their ads so they don't mislead people.
IMHO, a sign at the gate is not sufficient in this case.
