The media described this as an "Octopus" style ride... as far as I
know, all rides of that type and genre contain enclosed tubs which would
make it nearly impossible to fall out of, unless this is some strange
brew of ride I've never seen before?

I read in today's Daily Mail that a young boy was tragically killed when
thrown from The Octopus ride at a fair in Torrevieja near Alicante.
Paramedics tried to save him but he died within minutes. The boy's
grandfather was on the ride with him but as the ride spun round the G-forces
pushed the boys forward and he slid beneath the safety bar when the ride was
12ft. above the ground. He was then hurled 20ft. on to concrete.
The ride owner, who has worked fairs all his life, said he was distraught
and admitted that the ride was only meant for ***s. He hadn't noticed the
little boy get on the ride.
This is terrible news, I'm sure you'll all agree. I'm just wondering when
all this will come to an end. I realise that all fair type accidents are
receiving a lot of attention at the moment and some are blown out of
proportion. Stories like this have become very common this summer and maybe
some saftey procedures need to be reviewed?
