TR: Perilous Plunge - New Term: OTSS (6/3/2002)

Got to Knott's at about 3:30, rode GhostRider (25-30 miutes for second
seat to last, left side, running great), then over to Plunge which I
hadn't been on since the second week of its *original* opening
(September 2000).  The first maze (next to the station) was almost
full which was a one-hour wait.  A "boat" was dispatched every 8.5-10
minutes.

I found the new restraints surprisingly unobtrusive.  In addition to
the original lap bar there's a seatbelt and straps that run from the
seatbelt up over your shoulders (OTSSs?).  There are red and green
tabs on that straps that you pull to loosen or tighten the straps.
It's really no more difficult than putting on a backpack.  They made
sure the straps were snug, but not what I would call uncomfortably
tight.

I was sitting in the last row, very left side.  The ride is still the
same: a lift hill, an insane airtime drop (and the new restraints,
being fabric, weren't in any way painful like airtime against a hard
*** OTSR), and a wicked deluge of cold water on your head.
Extremely fun (or is that Xtremely?  Oops, wrong park).

I checked the line before I left around 6 (Knott's closed at 8 that
day) and it was down to about one or two boats' wait but I had to
leave.
