Where do they come up with these weird terms?     And why was Rob saying it over and over?
The shows are better, but still come across as comedy fodder.

1.  Drop the weird names they give to coasters.
2.  Drop the title of the people riding them.   It's really funny to see someone's name at the bottom of the screen, and the title of "Coaster Enthusiast."  Wow, I guess they're official.
3.  Stop with the scarey talk.     Even the narration is over the top.   We're coming into the final turn of Bizzaro, and YOU MIGHT NOT STOP.    WOW.   I HOPE THE BRAKES ON THIS THING WORK.    I realize they're building suspense, but my gosh.
4.  Stop interviewing people who don't want to go on the ride.   Show people that DO want to go and think it's cool.

It's like the template can't be broken.

Rob, you really need to become the production company.    I don't have the money to do it.   If I won lotto I would.

And notice, this entire post doesn't even talk about which coaster should of won, I knew it would be TTD.

To be fair, that's a valid concern on that particular ride.

I only watched one show and that was all I could handle.
Female coaster enthusiast... I might throw up on this coaster.
Me... Umm, why do you like this then?

There are so many reasons I don't like this series. It COULD have been great.
That's just me though. SIGH

Right, that's exactly what I keep ranting about.   Why put scaredy cats on the ride?   Is that what the coaster industry wants?   You'd think they would get pissed off about it, and say enough, but no, they don't care.  I realize that fear is part of the ride, but my gosh, they go over board with it.

Every show portrays coasters as death machines, that will kill you (accident), make you sick, or make you die from a panic attack.   Yes, each can happen, but it's in every show.

Do not put these people on the rides.   It is not entertaining to watch.

It would be like having a show about Harley Davidson motorcycles, showing the pack riding down the street, then interviewing me, and I go, "Well, I'm scared to ride today because I might die, this hog is loud, and it's gonna make me sick."    Do you think Harley riders would like that?   No.

So why do coaster fans put up with it?    I've been ranting about this for 10 years and it's never changed.    The shows are so corny.    It's fun to see the high lights of the rides, but enough of the scaredy cat and science stuff.

I've never seen a single one of these stupid shows. Stop watching this
garbage and you'll stop getting annoyed by it.

Virtually every coaster in existence has a POV vid on youtube. So just
get your fix there without driving yourself nuts.

YOU would think that the industry would get pissed off about it.

But you're apparently wrong.

Accept that.

It's EXACTLY what the industry wants.  They want their rides to be seen as
very emotional experiences.  That brings people onto them.  And it helps
them enjoy them more.

It's good business, something you've never understood about this hobby.

It's a BUSINESS.

Did you ever think that there might be a reason for that?

Quote:
>Do not put these people on the rides.   It is not entertaining to watch.

Why do you always assume that because YOU don't find something entertaining
that others' don't either?  That's one of your biggest problems in life.
You don't understand that others actually have different opinions than you
do.  When you learn that that's not the case, you'll have a much less
frustrating time in life.

Actually, I sometimes find the scaredy-cats entertaining.  The fact that
some people do, is enough to make it worth them filming them.

Period.

These shows aren't made for one person.  They're made for millions.

Because you have no say on the matter.

You have absolutely no choice in the matter.

Period.

Yep.

Perhaps you should take the hint!

In case you're confused:

THE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU THINK.

Any questions?

LOL!

I think both of you have valid points, honestly. I agree with Robert that giving the impression of a real danger or a real fright can be negatively perceived when trying to widen the audience for visits to the parks being filmed. Does showing these very scared reactions scare people away who watch these shows? I think if i was hesitant and then saw a show with people freaking out or talking about the danger, it would have a negative effect. Showing riders who are genuinely having fun would probably be a more positive effect.

However, on the entertainment side of it, it's also fun/funny to see people who are truly scared on the ride, too. I think it's most funny to people like us who are so used to riding these machines that we almost can't imagine people really freaked out this much by them.

Those are almost 2 extremes though. Are these shows for entertainment value only or are they more of advertising device? I think that's the real question. I think it's a mixture of both, though. And it shows, because usually there's a mixture of some degree of science, coaster enthusiasts, and scared guests.

Regarding the science parts, I enjoy those parts. It's fun to see how things work, even if it's only very basic (and something people like us enthusiasts have a general knowledge of anyway).

These types of shows in general are usually enjoyable, as opposed to just finding pov shots on YouTube or the like. They're informative, have a nice variety of different shots around the parks featured (usually), and are generally interesting and each with a little different style.

Yeah, none of them are perfect and some are kinda far fetched with their ideas, but most are pretty good. Along with coaster shows, I also enjoy the park shows, waterpark shows and haunted attraction shows. Haven't seen any carnival ones yet, i think that'd be interesting though, especially showing how they "jump" from one spot to the next and what that's like.

ok huge coaster here but you're all right the series could have been better, also in particular they shouldn't have joked about break failures on Bizarro since back in 2003 when it was originally Superman ride of Steel the breaks actually failed concluding in a major collision, and in 2006 when a guy flew off at the breaks, which is why the coaster doesn't have a T-Bar like other Intamin mega coasters.
Also when describing the elements on the coasters they didn't go in order which is stupid when your trying to profile the ride in an accurate setting. All in all Fail!!

First all, they're brakes, not breaks.  They're not usually broken.

I don't recall the brakes on SROS ever failing.  Unless I'm forgetting
something.

And the person who flew out of the ride did so before the brakes.  It may
have been right before it, but it actually had nothing to do with the
brakes.  It happened on the turn BEFORE the brakes.  He was gone before the
brakes engaged.

Does anyone actually care what order the elements are in?

Honestly, I found the describing of the coasters in minute detail to be the
most boring parts of the shows.

There should be an award or something for recounting a historic event
using an r.r-c thread rather than a mundane news article or interpretive
web page.

Speaking of interpretive web pages, that's one of the ones that migrated
