The Chiller (Bye Bye Batman)

Post by NCQ » Sun, 25 Oct 1998 04:00:00

After going to SFGAdv on Fri night i was told that the batman side of the
chiller would not be working for the rest of the year.  They would give me no
other information as to why - so im taking a stab at it.  My guess is it is
broken.  The train is not even there anymore.

If anyone has any other info - please let me know.

Thanx
Nic

Of course it's broken, that's why it isn't open.   :)

SFGA is famous for  taking a side down on a ride with 2 sides after the prime
season is over[i.e.rolling thunder,lightning loops,1 of the flumes closed,one
side of sky ride closed ,one ferris wheel closed,etc.etc.]this way they can get
a jump on closing park down for winter, and save on labor costs to run 2nd sides
of rides.thats my guess anyway.

Your probably right, I was there last week and already they had one of the
Viper trains, rolling thunder, runaway mine trains, removed and all apart.

That may be true, but with a ride like Chiller, they would still have the
lines for a few more years..for as many people that like that ride, wouldn't
it make sense to keep the whole thing going to keep up tacket sales?

Well, that's partially true but it's not the case for Chiller. The Batman side
is closed due to
technical problems and will most likely not open for the remainder of the
season.

Today (Sunday, Oct 25) all of the water rides were closed.  Both sides of
Rolling
Thunder were operating with the right (the weaker side, IMHO) running two
trains
and the left (the better side) only running one.  Lightning loops is long
gone and the
sky ride has not been running all year.  SFGAd now only has one ferris wheel
and it
was operating.  Hope you don't mind me asking but when was the last time you
visited
Great Adventure?

What has happend to the sky rides.  that was a good ride and you could see
alot.

Are they having techinical problems?  was it being under used?  have they
maybe decided to put in a new generation sky ride type attraction?

Just a thought.

The Chiller (Bye Bye Batman)

I got to go twice...April 25th, for my physics class, and then again June
5th, as a graduation present.  These were my first two times at the park.
On the june 5th visit, my friend and I rode 7 rides in 2.5 hours.  This
included both sides of the chiller, in only 10 minutes.  When we first got
the the park however, the whole GASM section was inoperable...an electricity
problem.  Luckily, it all came back up later.  We also went through the
safari.  I almost ran over: a black bear, a kangaroo, a duck, a
deer-looking-thing, a baby rhino, and a baby giraffe.  That was fun.
