Steel Force opening date?

Does anyone know when Steel Force is scheduled to be up and running? I called Dorney Park today, and the best
answer I could get was "May".

They will try for opening day but it will be close, relax folks , by what
i've heard about the modifications to the design we've seen, it will be
well worth the wait!

By the way! Watch for the latest SteelForce Pictures on my steelforce page

What did they modify??  I never heard about this!  What exactly did they
change?

I think Sam is referring to how Morgan ADDED some roughness to SF.
They admitted that Wild Thing was too smooth. They said they've added
a lot more laterals and the redesigned the trains to resemble Magnum.
This is supposed to be Magnum's sibling. Will it be the big brother or
the wussy little sister...hmm...I guess we'll find out soon?

Kip, Kip, Kip...  Let me preface this by saying that as of *today*,
Magnum is my number one overall favorite coaster.  And, that I am
looking forward to Steel Force with great anticipation (can't wait for
the opening!).   However, let's not rile the politically correct
faction, feminists and generic purists among our little family by
attaching gender stereotypes to attributes for the two coasters, ok
;-) ?  I think that big brothers and wimpy little sisters went out the
door with***, Jane and Sally (reference:  The New Basic Readers,
circa 1974).  There *is* a rumor circulating that Sally grew up and
changed her name to Ellen; she always was such a feisty little thing -
and usually got her own way ;-) !

Bingo, Kip!  Now I suppose we'll *both* take the heat for misbehaving
on the ng.  Sorry, folks ;-) !

To bring it back to coasters, may I restate that I *can't wait* for
Steel Force to open.  If it *doesn't* open on the first weekend that
DP is open (10 & 11 May), we won't get to ride it until 7 June!  We'll
be at Blue Streak Bash on the weekend of 17-18 May (well, maybe we
could hit it on the way home Sunday).  And then, 24 May through 1 June
we'll be on our nine day coaster tour (aka vacation):
HW/KK/Americana/PKI/CP (2 days)/Geauga Lake/Kennywood/Wyandot Lake
(we're flying in and out of Columbus and renting a car, to save on
precious coaster time).

I need to ride Magnum and Steel Force within a short period to attempt
to compare the two.  And *this* year you can all be assured that I
will post a trip report (last May I was still lurking on r.r-c - if
you can believe *that*!)

Hehe, no need to apologize. Those uptight "politically correct" people
could use a little dose of humor. If they DO get offended, good! Those
people***(uh oh, did it again) me off! :-) "Oh, Pirates of the
Caribbean is degrading to woman...boo hoo...let's go find some rally
to march in."

I still think Magnum looks like it will be a little better. Morgan
KNOWS what they're doing therefore the airtime is supposed to be just
right. Arrow DIDN'T know what they were doing to a certain extent.
Magnum, at least what I heard, was NOT supposed to have airtime that
strong.

You know, I heard about that. Is it true that Pirates Of The Caribbean was
found to be politlicaly incorrect? I heard the ride upset some people
during the town raiding scene. Some people felt that women being auctioned
off and being chased by pirates was bad taste. Is it true Disney is
changing the scene? If so, Wow. Have we come so far that we can't take a
little humor. Besides, the scene only shows what happened during those
outrageous times. Bring back the dead man killed by the indian arrow in
front of the burning cabin.

Morgan probably knows what they are doing, but how many ex Arrow employees
work for Morgan? In some respect, Im thankful for mistakes in physics. More
Airtime Please.

Morgan has one ex-Arrow coaster designer.  Steve Okamoto designed
several coasters for Arrow before joining Morgan's team. So far, he has
designed all of Morgan's steel coasters, and, incidentally, he knows
exactly what he's doing.

Sounds like Steve Okamoto has some good experience on his side. Did he have
a hand in designing of MAGNUM, DESPERADO, and The BIG ONE? Or was it all
Ron Toomer with Steve Okamoto on those Arrow Mega Steel Hyper coasters?

Ron Toomer doesn't do the actual designing, he bends wire and thinks
of layouts and ideas. He then turns it to the engineers who work out
the design.

You really think that's all he does? I...don't...think...so. I've seen most
of the TV programs with Ron Toomer explaining about the wire, I took it as
a joke. Even despite what he may have you think Im sure he does more. But
if that is all he does, what a great way to make money.

Oh, I'm sure back in 'the day' he did his fair share of engineering
(that's probably how he got to the top) but he stated this is what has
been/is doing for awhile now. He says he thinks of ideas, layouts, etc
and submits them to the engineers who do the ACTUAL designing.

As far as I know, Steve was leaving Arrow just as the hypercoaster craze
started.  He was involved in Magnum, but I don't think he designed to
ride.  I might be wrong about that, though.

Steve has designed many of the mega loopers and suspended coasters for
Arrow, including the Vortex at PKI and Ninja at SFMM.  But I think his
best work is yet to come.  I really think Steve and the rest of the
people at Morgan Manufacturing have a few surprises up their sleeve.
We'll just have to wait and see.
