I meant Cedar POint is the best Amu***t Park in the country.  Any
guesses on what its next addition will be?  I think it desperately needs
the scariest longest etc standing roller coaster yet.  If it had that it
would rule, indefinately.

...and many polls agree with you.  Myself?  I donno, I just can't seem to get
overly jazzed over CP.  It's big alright, and has a few good coasters (Blue
Streak being my favorite!), but a park is not made by it's coasters alone imho.
The consessions are pretty decent at CP, but the overal ride package is just
to 'watered down' for my tastes (this is not really Dave Althoff flame bait, I
swear!!).  Their rides like the Troika, Witches Wheel (Enterprise), Monster,
etc. are run at family speeds and not thrill speeds.

Personally, I get more e***d over going to parks like Lakeside in Denver or
the Coney Island boardwalk, where all the rides are run at absolute maximum
speed (and for a very l o n g time).  I'll confess to being a spin-n-barfoholic.
I need a good selection of intense spinners to make me happy, as well as that
nostalgic park atmosphere.  Although, I'm not blind to see that many of my
all-time favorite parks (Whalom, Williams Grove, Coney Island) are considered
"dumps" by most people.  To each his own...

As previously noted, $17M in hotel improvements and additions to Soak City,
including a new family water ride.

Don't hold your breath on the standing coaster.  They had actually considered
a stand-up coaster at one point, but CP's maintenance dept. firmly put their
foot down that they did _not_ want to have to deal with the maintenance on one
of those things.

hmmm....No stand-up...but the best inverted on the earth...Plus, w/ 11
coasters, they got enough to worry about. Also I and manu people think
most of the stand-up around (SF, Para.) are VERY small and have really
long lines for a short ride.

I definitely agree with you on this issue.  I have been saying this to my
friends and family for years, but apparently, the powers that be have NO
plans in the forseeable future for a standup coaster.

I myself have never ridden in a standup and can't imagine what it could
possibly feel like.  I guess I can dream, can't I?

You the man.  Cedar Point is AWESOME!!

It sort of feels like horsecollars around your entire body.  So if you like
horsecollars, you'll love it.

I think the sensation on stand up roller coasters is and could be the
scariest yet-when you fall you fall with your whole body stretched out and
there is no oppurtunity to lean back and straighten out like you can in
regular roller coasters-it scares me big time.

Personally, I feel that Cedar Point needs a backwards coaster. Ideally, I think
a Vekoma Boomerang would fit perfectly in the space left when Jungle Larry's
folds.  That's a lot of space to let go to waste.

Also, I know this will never happen, but switch Disaster Transport back to
Avalanche Run.  That ride was much better when you could see what was happening
around you.

Just thinkin' about summer,

Switch back to Avalnche Run! Cut me a break. I rode it the year before it
closed and I colud walk the track faster than it ran. At least the theming
is good (not outstanding, but good), on Disaster Transport.

Agreed.  Furthermore, the Po!nt is not known for outstanding weather.  It
often rains up there, and in the rain, Avalanche Run would fill up with
standing water, making it impossible to run.  Not good for passenger
throughput...
