Indiana Beach Coaster Chaos Event (May 4th) - Favor?!

Post by Cameron Silv » Wed, 10 Apr 2002 01:17:17

Hi Everyone..

I am planning on attending the Coaster Chaos event at Indiana Beach on
May 4th 2002, but I have a slight problem.

The attendee packets can only be collected between 9 and 10am, but my
group and I will not be able to get there until about 11:30am. This
packet contains info, name-tags, and the all-important wrist-strap.

Can I ask someone to pick up this stuff for me and my group (only 4 of
us) and meet us at the entrance at 11:30 (or possibly even just leave
it at Guest Relations)? I will gladly provide some food or ice-cream
in return!

I have already mailed Scott Holmes (regional ACE rep for Indiana), and
even tried mailing the park (the e-mail address on the web-site

looking forward to this event .. I'd hate to miss it because of some
silly timing issues.

For those interested, here is a link to info on this event:
http://www.aceonline.org/flyers/CoasterChaos2002.pdf

Many thanks in advance,
Cameron.

I dunno, Cameron.  My group and I arrived about six minutes late to a Lost
Coaster tour (A freakin' tour!) and Lord Holmes banished us into the parking
lot.  And that was only six minutes late, I couldn't imagine where you'd be
banished if you were two hours late!

I used to enjoy going to events in that region, however, with those two at the
controls, I'd be *very* careful.  They singlehandeldy almost made me *not*
return to ACE by that one incident.  Who the hell wants to drive that far (over
two and a half hrs) and in those kinds of conditions (50mph winds and
torrential rains) to get told "OUT NOW" by some
orange-windbreaker-pants-wearing joke?  Not I.

I hope you have a smooth visit to IB though, it is such a great park and I
can't wait to return!

Well we were all told that the gates would be locked right at 10am.
heres a quote from the invite found at google "Check in/Registration for
the tour will be from 9 - 10 AM in the
North parking lot, near the main entrance. Attendees will receive a
badge at check in.  The tour will begin at preciously 10 AM, no one
will be admitted after this time."
Yes the weather was bad. I drove from St. Charles IL which is a far
western suburb of Chicago. I had o get up early so I would make it on
time.

Fantastic, glad you made it. You keep your detestable reps and I'll enjoy
having a rep who understands that sometimes there are certain circumstances
that keep people one or two minutes late and can arrange some way for those
(who travelled obvious long distances to get there) people to get into events.

Thank God I don't have to deal with their ***anymore.  Unfortunately, there
are a lot who still have to.  So sorry.

Yeah, that is unfortunate. The regional reps that I've been associated
with, both in CA and OH, have all been very cool, friendly and reasonable
people. I can't say that I've ever seen, nor heard of, any of them yelling
at other ACE members. I'd like to keep our current regional reps here, thank
you very much.

You can say that again! Fortunately, almost all of the ACE officials
that I've had the pleasure to meet share that thought. However, that's not
the impression I've gotten from the reps in question. So, I'm sorry Cameron,
but you're probably SOL. To quote from the event flyer, "Indiana Beach and
ACE are not responsible for...individual[s] showing up at the event late or
without pre-registering."

I actually have Bob Prentki as my ACE rep. But I haven't had a problem
with Scott and Carol yet. They do a great job of getting parks to host
events and special days such as construction tours at I.B. and Holiday
World. Maybe you should leave eariler when you see the weather is bad.

If he could find another ace member to pick up his registration from
scott and carol and have the person meet up with him later that would
work.

Oh, okay, so the thirty minutes early we left wasn't enough...Should have known
it would take 36 minutes longer...  :::rollseyes:::

Face it, to be that strict about something like a freakin tour is absurd. Six
minutes late (and we tried EVERYTHING in our power to contact them and notify
them we would be a couple mins late, called long distance many times but no one
picked up...how the HELL are we supposed to know we'd be six minutes late!  We
are coming from over 160mi away!  You absolutely cannot plan that precisely).

I can't imagine anyone actually sticking up for what they did, but to each
their own.

Not to mention the REAL part of this whole dilemma that irritates me to no end
-- HOW he dealt with the situation.  Telling us "OUT NOW" and pointing to the
exits like we're children?  Who the hell is this guy?  What kind of rep will
just say "OUT NOW" without even hearing a single, solitary word about what had
happened?  What if we had stopped to help someone on the side of the road?

The fact remains you cannot be that hardnosed about it when there are
extenuating circumstances (which Lord Holmes had *zero* desire to hear) and
then deal with it like a Grade A ***.

Basically, Lord Holmes needs to find a spot which DOESN'T deal with people --
he's so un-people person it's unbelievable.

I actually used to like the two of them...boy, how things change when you see
thier "True Colors."

Okay, enough from me on this subject, I have said my piece.  If you would like
to respond, go for it, but I feel that I have nothing else to say.  Thanks for
letting me vent.

Agreed.

Maybe he is being paid for it. =)

I enjoy reading about this ridiculous mishap at Indiana Beach, everytime I hear
it not one FACT is different, its just plain the truth.

As for myself I knew they were like that some time ago and avoided them as much
as possible (unless a certain idiot brings them into your motel room).

If you want to yell at people like that, you do NOT belong as a
representative...I dont think any of my school  & college teachers, coaches or
work supervisors & managers would ever act like that let alone a REP for a club
based on FUN...

Anyway thats enough for me!!

boycott it and just work that day)

The problem is that when certian people get put in a position with
little power they go nuts and think they rule the world. They kiss so
much ass and belive they are doing us a favor and we owe them. Some
people just have very poor people skills.  The sad part is that not
only did they make ACE look bad but the park as well.  Personally I
never had a problem with them until this occured, besides the laugh I
get from their costumes they wear to parks.  I can only hope that
people that agree with us(and their are plenty) will speak up so we
can get these type of people replaced.
