> I think you're way off the mark with your so called "opinions" on how the rest of us think!  There is a time and a place, and a public news forum is not really the proper place to post inflammatory remarks about a park when you have a responsibility to your club, and it's members, to act in a civil manor and express your views appropriately.  By ALL means express your views 100% on park survey's or email surveys.  This is EXACTLY where you should post your views and thoughts 100% and give the park a chance to respond and improve.  You're putting words in everyone's mouth on RRC if you think that people on moderated forums and coaster clubs don't give honest feedback when it is appropriate!.  This has been my mantra from day one.  We are also here to support this hobby and the parks that treat us so well, and if that means being a bit PC, and to be an arm of the PR dept sometimes, then so be it.  It WILL help the industry in the long run.  Also, if you have legitimate gripes and express them well to a park, they usually are quite willing to respond and/or fix the situation.  If you are trying to TELL the park how to run their business and expect them to bend over backwards over every crazy idea you might have, then you're in for a lot of frustration.  Remember parks are business that are trying to give the best experience in the safest most cost effective means, which might conflict with your opinion of what *you* think they should do.  Once again, there is correct time and place for honest feedback in any situation....

Let me clarify, that was in response to "skiguy777", just in case anyone wasn't sure...

For what it's worth....  The way I found RRC was from Joe Schwartz'
site Joyrides.com RRC was the first URL on the related links page. So
I guess I started lurking around 98.... But didnt post until 01 or
so.

How has aioe been behaving of late?  I used aioe for a while, but had
frustrating random outages, where no new posts would show up for a long
time, then the group would be flooded, or threads would just
disappear...overall, it was less reliable than the SBC (Prodigy, believe
it or not) news server was when they finally shut it down.

I've switched over to eternal-september.org, but I find that annoying
because it is an authenticated server, and it keeps timing out.  So rtin
gives me this message:  "Server timed out. Reconnect? (Y/n)".
Personally, I think it's a stupid message. Of course I want to
reconnect, dammit!

Incidentally, I've been around r.r-c not since the beginning, but since
late 1991 or early 1992. There was a time when I was one of the most
prolific posters here; these days I spend a lot less time on r.r-c
partly because there are more places I have to check, partly because I
don't have as much time for it, and partly because of some limitations
on the computers I use. For instance, I have not figured out any way to
synchronize my .newsrc with clients on multiple computers, so for
practical reasons I can't use my laptop or my iPad to read Usenet news.
Oh, and I haven't found a decent NNTP client for the iPad anyway!

I seems to be quite stable these days. I can't remember the last time it had one of
its quirky outages. I certainly don't feel the need to go looking for something else.

Google is definitely not counting all my posts when I look at my own
personal profile (for Aug, Sept, and now October as well). So, I'd say
that the total for the board is probably not accurate either. Not that
I don't agree that posts are lacking. But it might not be quite as low
as it says for the total, based on its inaccuracy counting my own
number personally.
