PPP was apparently a huge success. 1300 + attendees. I also noticed
the ride ticket booths were open the entire night until 10pm. I
remember when they didn't even accept regular tickets (only PPP
handstands) during PPP. So it's basically a regular open night, not an
exclusive ride time/party anymore.
Also, like last year, Black Diamond was not a handstamp attraction but
one a single ride ticket was issued to attendees for. Unlike last year
and previous years, however, the Skyride is now a handstamp ride. And
don't worry, Haunted House is still included with the handstamp. A lot
of rides also were open at 6 instead of the usual 7pm, like Grand
Carousel and Kozmo's Kurves. I think that's a good thing. Having the
staggered opening times made it kinda difficult to try to fit
everything in, especially when you want to try to save the coasters
for nighttime.

The rides were all running great-

Black Diamond had some new effects (or just ones that I don't
remember from my ride last year);

Twister had noticeable trackwork done (seems a tad more bland, so not
sure how I feel about it, I think I like it the way it was more, and
for the record I've always been a fan of Twister the way it was).

Pioneer Train had some new haunted effects (although I prefer the
pitch black versions of years past.

Haunted Antique Cars were great- possibly the best I've seen ever.
Also the longest wait time- just over an hour.

Also rode the Satellite, Grand Carousel, Skyride, and Monkey Maze. All
running just fine.

Cesari's Pizza was great as usual (love that birch beer!). The weather
was quite chilly all day, just over 40 degrees after the close of PPP.
Luckily, no rain. That may be a different story tomorrow however.

One more thing, Mr. Knoebel seemed quite hopeful about Flying Turns
for next year. Lets hope so.

Also, the bumper cars.  In fact, the bumper cars stayed open quite a
while past 5pm, with the ops allowing rides with the Phunfest stamp.

Hmmm.  I didn't ride it this year.  I rode it twice last year, once at
PPP and once on the last day of the season (supposed to be the
penultimate day, but then there was a snowstorm.)  I'm probably going
back next weekend, but I don't know if I want to spend $2.50 on it.
What did you think was new?

The huge jerk at the turn into the helix is gone.  The front of the
train now rides pretty smooth.  The back of the train still rattles
quite a bit, which suprised me because when watching the trains, the
back looks as steady as the front but the middle looks like it
rattles.  Also, one of the trains seemed quite a bit faster than the
other one.  I swear it flew almost halfway up each lift before
catching the chain.

He seemed pretty hopeful about it last year too.  I wish he would've
gone into more details.

Last thing -- the flyers sucked this year, unless something changed
later in the night after I and everyone I talked to rode them.

I thought the weather was perfect this year. This was my first time on
the Black Diamond and I think it is a great addition to the park...I
only wish there were less trim brakes...but I guess it only makes
sense that they are where they are. I also thought Phoenix was awesome
as usual. Riding Phoenix in the dark is just flat out excellent. The
bumper cars were good, but there were too many lame riders who did not
know what they are doing. IMO, this is part of the problem with having
the event open to the GP. As a whole...it was great night with great
weather. I can't wait til next year!

"So it's basically a regular open night, not an

That was my biggest problem with PPP.
