Superman-Ride of Steel; Lift hill topped off

There was a terrific picture of Superman ROS in fridays Buffalo news.
Everytime i see more of this coasters construction the more stoked i get
about it.The ride is gonna be fantastic.I had previously posted that it
wasnt getting any buzz because it wasnt a record breaker with anything new.
Since i went out to see it in person i feel totally opposite,it is the
first hyper from Intamin and is not going to be like anything around. At
least this year it will be one of a kind ride.Im gonna take another ride
out there tomorrow and see whats been done.
On a side note i got my SFDL season pass this week and it is good
for all SF parks with $10 coupons for many other Premier parks. The only
change i saw since the SF name change is the park will open May 7 which is
a week earlier than before.

Lee, are there any websites with pictures of the coaster?  So far I've
seen *nothing* - not even a layout of the ride.

Kyle Asquith's site has some nice construction photos of Superman.

YES!  Thanks to Lee for pointing this out, I was able to track down a
copy of Friday's Buffalo News.  I scanned the picture of Superman Ride
of Steel's lift hill topped off, and put it online at:

OH MY GOD.  Any doubts I've had about this coaster have suddenly
vanished. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW STEEP THAT DROP IS!!  Not only that, but
how abrupt it is!!!  It's about time a park got some balls and build a
REAL 200' drop!  I'm so e***d about this ride!  This will be the
hyper-hit of '99!

Way to go, SFDL!

As opposed to Magnum and Steel Force, which do not do much for me.  I
like it steep and abrupt, ala Superman and to a lesser extent, Apollo.

I think it's the angle of the pic that makes it look so steep and abrupt.
I hope I'm wrong, though.  It looks awesome.

It's tough to judge the exact angle, but notice how steep the lift hill
climb looks.  That's probably due to the same effect.  The best angle to
view the drop from would be at right angles to the lift.  I'd say some of
the apparent steepness of the drop is an illusion here, but it still does
look like a pretty sharp rollover!
